What is Transformative Youth Justice?

Transformative Youth Justice is a first-of-its-kind youth diversion program launched by Judge Hernández in collaboration with the Travis County Attorney’s Office, County Clerk’s Office, Court Administration, and more than 15 local organizations. The program delivers trauma-informed care, mental health services, peer support training, and career readiness pathways to young people facing legal involvement. TYJ centers dignity, healing, and long-term stability over punishment.
